Katherine Ask Music Studio

Kate is a member of the Curb Youth Symphony, the top orchestra in the pre-college program through the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.  She has earned a seat in the 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 MTSBOA Mid-state Orchestras and has secured a seat in the 2022, 2023 ,and 2024 TMEA All-State String Orchestras.
 
Kate has been teaching students privately since May 2021.  She teaches with guidance from her private lesson teacher, Korinne, to provide the most effective teaching skills and techniques to her students.  Kate’s students have the opportunity to join Korinne’s studio for group lessons and recitals throughout the year.  They are expected to attend these group lessons as part of the whole Suzuki experience and to participate in recitals.
 
Kate’s teaching philosophy centers around the Suzuki Method developed by Shinichi Suzuki. Kate recognizes the importance of parental involvement in the learning process. In the beginning, parents are expected to attend the lessons and help their children throughout the week as the “home teacher.” Parents should provide their children with encouragement and a proper learning environment. Students are required to establish DAILY practice habits! Additionally, students are required to listen DAILY to the reference recordings of the Suzuki repertoire. Listening is one key to success!

When Kate isn’t playing the violin, she works hard as a homeschooled student. She is actively involved in her youth group and worship team at church. She also LOVES to draw, read, play piano, sing, and play with her two Yorkies.
